LJ Prototype: Main page
manonon
This is a translation for Main LJ Page taken from prototype located here. Please take your feedback to LJ feedback page or to the post dedicated to the upcoming design change (Artemiy Lebedev tema understands English). Please try to be polite.

Landing (home) page for the logged-in user is going to be LJ Overview page. It opens on Summary page:

(click to open full-size)

Three columns contain New Comments (it might be current Journal Comments, but it's unclear from the prototype), Writer's Block and highest-rated journals and communities (I titled it Spotlight because it shorter).

Second tab (Big Year) is apparently an ad tab. It's not clear what they mean by Friends Updates - prototype displays the same Summary page. Shop will try to make you buy a paid account :)

Below is something that only exists on Russian version of the main page right now: most popular posts. This section is being used to highlight posts that are gathering most traffic and to highlight some posts on paid basis (meaning you pay and you get your post on top of the list, highlighted in yellow). Paid part is auction based: the one who paid most appears first.

This is how it looks right now on Livejournal.ru. Most popular on the left, highest-rated journals and communities (spotlight) on the right. Paid promo post is highlighted in yellow and marked with the Promo star. If you hover mouse over Promo star, you'll see how long this post will be highlighted and how much it'll cost you to replace it with your own post.

Header/nav bar has following links:

1) My Journal:
- Profile, Selected (Bookmarks? Memories? - it's unclear from the prototype), Tags, Calendar, Statistics, Album (Scrapbook);
- Post an Entry, Account Settings, Journal Settings;

2) Communications:
- Friends Page, Friend Times*, Friends of Friends, Messages (Inbox?), LJ-Talk;
- Manage Friends Page, Create Community, Add a Feed.

3) Whole LJ:
- Ratings, Writer's Block, Community Directory, Aqua**, FRNK Radio, Domino (no info on that);
- About Service, LJ Today, Classifieds, Help, LJ.Ru;

4) Shop:
- Deposit account, Paid Account, Rename, Gifts, Userheads.

* Friends Times is a relatively new feature currently available to members of friendstimes. After you join the comm, you'll be able to see entries your friends have commented on on URL http://YOURUSERNAME.livejournal.com/friendstimes (replace YOURUSERNAME with your actual username). To be honest, even I had no idea what that is. Added this info to the LJ news post.

** Aqua broadcasts in real time all of the public entries published in LiveJournal. The size of links is in inverse proportion to the length of the entry, i.e. the shorter the entry, the larger the font and the quicker the speed of the text. Cyrillic only, I think.

Footer has a strip with three tabs: Paid Account, New Journal Styles and LJ-Life: Limited Preview. Limited Preview is probably for movie ads?

Grey strip has all the same links top one has in somewhat different order and with language switch and version info. Why do they have language dropdown in the language whole site is currently displayed in I have no idea. Makes no sense to me.

I wasn't able to view LJ.ru in English so my translation might differ from the official. For example I'm pretty sure that what I've translated as Whole LJ is called Explore in official translation.
